About

About Scroll Hush

Scroll Hush is an Android app for people who want to use social media more intentionally without giving it up. Before a monitored app opens, it adds a short pause and asks why you are opening it and how long you plan to stay. You can set daily and session limits, review your habits and choose something else to do instead of scrolling.

We built it around a simple idea: most scrolling that people regret starts with an automatic opening, not a decision. Making that moment visible, and giving it a real exit, is more sustainable for many people than locking apps away or deleting accounts.

What Scroll Hush is and is not

  • It is a personal self-management tool for your own Android phone.
  • It is not available for iPhone.
  • It is not a parental control, a security tool or a guaranteed restriction.
  • It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition.

Editorial standards for our guides

Our guides are written by the Scroll Hush team to help people reduce mindless scrolling, whether or not they ever use our app. We follow these rules:

  • Useful first. Every guide starts with a direct answer and includes steps you can follow with the free tools already on your phone.
  • Primary sources. Settings instructions are checked against official help pages from Google, Meta and TikTok. Research claims link to the original study or review.
  • Honest about evidence. We describe study size, length and limits, and we do not present research on other tools or on screen time in general as proof that Scroll Hush works.
  • No clinical claims. Terms such as "addiction" are used the way people search for them, not as diagnoses. We encourage readers to speak with a qualified professional when phone use is affecting their health or daily life.
  • Clear about our product. Guides mention Scroll Hush where it is relevant and say plainly what it does not do. Comparisons include free and competing options.
  • Real dates. Each guide shows when it was published, and an updated date only when its content has been materially reviewed.
