What Scroll Hush collects

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Scroll Hush uses information about the apps you choose to monitor so it can measure your usage, apply your settings, and show your reports. In the current Android version, this information is processed and stored on your device. It is not automatically uploaded to a Scroll Hush server.

Here, “collects” means information the app accesses or saves locally. It does not mean that Scroll Hush receives your usage history remotely.

The apps you choose

Scroll Hush remembers which supported apps you selected for monitoring. It uses their Android package identifiers to recognize them. A package identifier identifies an application, such as Instagram, rather than your account inside it.

The app can check whether supported apps are installed so it can show the available choices. This does not give Scroll Hush access to the accounts, posts, or messages inside those apps.

Usage information

If you grant Usage Access, Scroll Hush reads app-usage information made available by Android. It uses relevant events to calculate monitored-app usage, including:

  • when a monitored app became active or was left
  • how long it was used
  • session start and end times
  • the number of sessions
  • usage by app and time of day
  • intervals between monitored-app sessions.

Android's Usage Access is a system-level access. Scroll Hush uses the information relevant to its monitoring features; it does not read the content displayed inside the apps.

Your session choices

When you open a monitored app through Scroll Hush, it can save the reason you selected and how long you planned to use it. These choices are associated with the session so the reports can compare your planned time with the time recorded.

The current opening reasons are:

  • Reply to someone
  • Post something
  • Check something specific
  • Entertainment
  • No specific reason.

Scroll Hush can also record whether a grace period was used and whether a configured boundary affected the session. A selected reason is your own description of why you opened the app. Scroll Hush cannot verify what you actually did inside it.

Settings and limits

Scroll Hush saves the settings you choose, such as monitored apps, shared or individual limits, maximum session duration, sessions per day, minimum breaks, opening pauses, grace periods, Quiet Hours, enforcement mode, and session-awareness preferences.

It also remembers settings for reports, meditation, stretching, and other app features.

Quiet Time, points, and Orbits

Scroll Hush stores local information needed to maintain your progression. This includes quiet-time state, progression timestamps, point balances, point additions and deductions, the current earning rate, unlocked Orbits, and your selected visual options.

These records keep your progress consistent between visits to the app. They are not a measure of your health or a clinical assessment of your habits.

Reading progress

If you use Read, Scroll Hush can remember the book you opened, your reading position, chapter or page, font-size preference, last-opened time, and completion status.

Your reading history is stored locally. It is not automatically sent to Scroll Hush.

Meditation and stretching

Scroll Hush remembers preferences such as your selected activity and duration. Meditation also uses local sequence information to reduce repetition, including recent sequence identifiers and journey elements.

These features do not record your voice, movements, breathing, or other physical measurements.

Self-assessment

The optional self-assessment uses your answers to calculate the result shown during the assessment. In the current version, the individual answers are not saved as part of your long-term usage history.

The result is for information and self-reflection. It is not a medical or psychological diagnosis.

Technical records

Scroll Hush creates local records that help connect usage events to sessions and calculate reports. These can include session identifiers, timestamps, data-quality markers, changes to monitored apps or limits, intervention events, and grace-period events.

These records describe how the monitoring features operated. They do not contain your social-media content.

Information Scroll Hush does not read

The current version does not read or store your posts, private messages, passwords, contacts, photos, camera input, microphone recordings, SMS messages, call contents, location, or keyboard input.

Its Accessibility service is configured not to retrieve screen contents or perform gestures. Notifications permission is used for Scroll Hush's own notifications; it is not notification access for reading other apps' notifications.

The current version has no Scroll Hush account, advertising SDK, or third-party analytics SDK.

Information you choose to share

The export feature shares supported preferences and metrics through Android's sharing interface. You choose the receiving app or service. The current export is not a complete copy of every local record, reading state, or progression store.

If you email support, the recipient receives the email address, message, and attachments you send. Opening Contact Support does not automatically send your local history.
