Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the current Scroll Hush Android application accesses, uses, and stores information.

1. How the current version handles information

Scroll Hush processes its app-usage information locally on your Android device. You do not need a Scroll Hush account, and the current application does not automatically upload your usage history to a Scroll Hush server.

The Android application does not request Internet permission. It does not include advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs, and it does not sell your local usage history.

External actions are different. If you open a website, send an email, or export information to another app, the browser, email provider, or receiving service handles that action under its own policies. This policy covers the Android application; it does not describe the separate handling of visits to a website.

2. Monitored apps and installed-app checks

Scroll Hush stores the supported apps you choose to monitor. It uses Android package identifiers to recognize them and can check whether supported apps are installed.

These checks are used to display app choices and operate monitoring. They do not give Scroll Hush access to your social-media account or the content inside an app.

3. App-usage information

If you grant Usage Access, Android allows Scroll Hush to query usage information. Scroll Hush uses relevant events to measure your monitored apps and calculate reports and limits.

This information can include app identifiers, foreground events, session start and end times, usage duration, session counts, and usage by time of day. Scroll Hush also derives quiet intervals and other report values from these records.

Usage Access is a system-level access rather than a permission granted separately for each selected app. The monitoring list determines which supported apps Scroll Hush uses for its monitored-app features.

Usage information does not contain the posts, messages, passwords, or other content you see or enter inside an app.

4. Accessibility information

If you enable the Scroll Hush Accessibility service, it receives window-state events for supported apps. Scroll Hush uses the active app's package identity to detect monitored-app openings and provide Launch Protection.

The service is configured not to retrieve application-window contents and not to perform gestures. Scroll Hush does not use it to read messages, posts, passwords, text fields, or anything you type.

The information used by this service is processed on your device. You can disable the service in Android Settings. Launch Protection depends on this access.

5. Intentional sessions and interaction records

When you go through the opening flow, Scroll Hush can store the app, session identifier, selected opening reason, planned duration, and session timestamps. It can also record grace-period events, boundary events, and whether a session finished within its planned time.

These records support reports about your own usage. Your selected reason is a self-report. Scroll Hush does not inspect what you did inside the app or determine whether you completed the intended task.

Technical records can also include changes to limits or monitored apps, data-quality markers, usage segments, intervention events, and aggregated metrics.

6. Settings and preferences

Scroll Hush stores the choices you make so they remain available when you return. These can include:

  • monitored apps and shared or individual limits
  • daily usage limits, session duration, and sessions per day
  • minimum breaks, opening pauses, and grace periods
  • Quiet Hours and enforcement settings
  • session-awareness and report preferences
  • meditation and stretching selections and durations
  • reading and visual preferences.

7. Quiet Time and progression

Scroll Hush stores quiet-time counters, progression timestamps, the current earning rate, point balances, point additions and deductions, Orbit unlocks, and selected Orbits or other visual state.

These records maintain the progression system. They are not used to create an advertising profile and are not automatically shared with a remote analytics service.

8. Reading and meditation

The reader stores local progress, including book identifiers, reading positions, chapter or page information, font-size preferences, last-opened times, and completion state.

Meditation stores preferences and recent sequence information to reduce repetition. This can include sequence identifiers, recent journey elements, and content-version information.

Scroll Hush does not record audio, video, bodily movements, breathing, or other physical measurements when you use meditation or stretching.

9. Self-assessment

The optional social-media self-assessment processes the answers you select to calculate the result. In the current version, individual answers are not saved as part of your long-term usage history.

The assessment is for self-reflection and general information. It does not diagnose a medical or psychological condition.

10. Information the application does not access

The current application does not read or record social-media posts, private messages, passwords, contacts, photos, camera input, microphone input, SMS messages, telephone-call contents, location, or keyboard input.

It does not use the Android Advertising ID for advertising or behavioral tracking. It does not have a Scroll Hush account containing your usage history.

11. Why this information is used

Local information is used to provide the features you select: monitoring, intentional openings, limits, Quiet Hours, Quiet Time, progression, reports, reading progress, activity preferences, and consistent app state.

Scroll Hush does not automatically send this history to advertisers, data brokers, social platforms, or analytics companies.

12. Exporting information

Settings → Privacy & data → Export my data opens Android's sharing interface with supported preferences and metrics in JSON format. You choose where to send the information.

In the current version, this export does not include every separately stored dataset. It should not be treated as a full backup of reading progress, progression records, meditation sequence history, or all other local state. The app does not currently provide a full restore function for this export.

An export can contain detailed behavioral information, including app identifiers, timestamps, settings, usage records, and technical metadata. Only share it with a destination you trust.

Once another app or service receives the copy, its own handling rules apply. Removing information from Scroll Hush does not remove copies you previously shared.

13. Support communications

Contact Support opens your email application. It does not automatically send a message or attach your entire local history.

If you send an email, the recipient receives your email address, message, and any attachments or information you include. This information is used to respond to your request and investigate the issue you reported.

Email communications are separate from the local app records. Uninstalling Scroll Hush or clearing its storage does not delete an email that has already been sent. You can contact support about information included in a support request.

14. Storage and security

Application records are stored in Android's app-specific private storage. Android's application isolation normally restricts direct access by other apps. Device compromise, root access, or access to an unlocked device can affect that protection.

Private app storage does not mean that every record has an additional layer of encryption implemented by Scroll Hush. No storage arrangement provides an absolute security guarantee.

The app sets Android's normal application backup flag to disabled. Device transfer behavior can still depend on the Android version and manufacturer; this is not a promise that no device-level transfer can ever occur.

15. Retention

Retention depends on the type of record. Intentional session records are pruned to approximately the most recent 90 days when the store's retention routine runs. This is not a promise that all Scroll Hush records are deleted after 90 days.

Metrics, settings, progression records, reading progress, meditation sequence information, and other local state can remain longer to preserve reports and app progress.

Scroll Hush does not maintain a remote copy of this local usage history. Information you export or send by email has a separate retention lifecycle at the destination.

16. Deleting local information

In the current version, Settings → Privacy & data → Delete my data clears the main preferences, protection state, metrics history, intentional session history, and Quiet Time state.

This control does not yet clear every separately stored dataset. Reading progress, progression and Orbit records, meditation sequence history, and some visual preferences can remain. The current in-app deletion control should therefore not be understood as a complete erasure of all Scroll Hush state.

To remove the application's private local records, use Android Settings → Apps → Scroll Hush → Storage → Clear storage or Clear data. Labels vary between devices. Uninstalling the application also normally removes its private app data.

These actions do not delete Android's own system usage history, copies you exported, or support emails you sent. If permissions remain enabled after clearing storage, the app can access system usage information again when you resume using it. Revoke special access in Android Settings if you want that access to stop.

17. Permissions and special access

Usage Access allows the app to query Android usage information for its monitoring features.

Accessibility allows Launch Protection to detect when a supported monitored app becomes active. It does not retrieve screen contents.

Display over other apps supports session-awareness information and boundary notices. It is not used to record your screen.

Notifications permission allows Scroll Hush to display its own notifications and service status. It does not allow Scroll Hush to read other applications' notifications.

Foreground-service functionality supports session awareness while the app is not visible. Battery-setting adjustments can help keep that functionality available; they do not provide access to additional personal content.

You can review or revoke permissions and special access in Android Settings. Features that depend on removed access may stop working or become less reliable.

18. Your control over information

You can change monitored apps and preferences, revoke access, export supported records, and remove private local data through Android's storage controls.

Because your app-usage records remain on your device, support cannot retrieve or delete those records remotely. For privacy questions or requests concerning information you sent directly to support, contact support@scrollhush.app.

Nothing in this policy removes privacy rights that apply under the law. The handling of a particular request depends on the information involved and the applicable requirements.

19. Minors

Scroll Hush is a personal self-management application, not a parental supervision service. It does not provide a remote parent account or send monitoring reports to a parent.

Where a minor uses the application, applicable age and parental-authorization requirements remain relevant. An adult's permission to install the app does not change the information it accesses or make its self-assessment a clinical evaluation.

20. Third-party applications and policy changes

Social apps, Android services, browsers, email providers, and export destinations operate independently. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their services.

This policy describes the current Android version. If a later version introduces accounts, remote processing, payments, analytics, or other material changes, the policy must describe the new handling. Any consent required for that change must be obtained before the relevant processing begins.

The latest policy will show its update date. For questions about this policy, contact support@scrollhush.app.
